Just another great example of Airsoft technlogy in a training environment. Airsoft is another system that can be used effectively under the right circumstances. Airsoft is the only technology that can be used in any live workplace with minimal or normal duty gear whereas Simunitions damage the surroundings and require bulky protective gear not worn on duty. – Stone Wolf

HAMPTON FALLS — Members of the Hampton Falls Police Department have been keeping their skills sharp with a little help from the Hampton Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
Lt. Tom Boynton of the Hampton Falls Police Department said the Sept. 17 “force-on-force” training session, held at the safety complex, was intended to give officers the opportunity to “do what they are trained for …; under stress.”
When officers train under stress, Boynton said, there is less of a chance they will “lock-up” when performance really counts out in the field.
The training session marked the first time the department used AirSoft training weapons. Previously, “Simunitions” — simulated ammunition — were used.
According to Boynton, the real-life situations were designed to simulate scenarios that have actually occurred in the field. Situations practiced during the session included “armed traffic stops” and “excited delirium cases.”
After simulations, police officers reviewed their responses to each situation and were critiqued.
“We don’t want to leave any officer with a bad feeling,” Boynton said. “We want everyone feeling confident.”
In addition to honing the police officers’ skills, officials said the practice is a great way to reinforce the partnership between the Police and Fire departments.
“We get along very well with them. It’s great,” Boynton said.
“It works very well,” Fire Chief Jay Lord said of the his department’s participation. “We can understand and assist them at an emergency scene. We can understand what they are going through.”
“It’s a good thing for us,” Lt. Laurence E. Anderson Jr. of the Hampton Falls Fire Department said. “It makes you see more.”
Police Chief Robbie Dirsa believes the cooperation is essential to protecting the public.
“It allows us to better provide for the citizens together,” he said.
