Owner – MSG (Ret) Howard “Mad Max” Mullen
Master Sergeant (Ret.) Howard “Mad Max” Mullen, a 26 year United States Army veteran, is known as one of the most dynamic Rangers to ever serve in the US Army. Beginning in 1979, Mullen served with the elite fighting force group through the decade and into the mid-1990s. During “Operation Urgent Fury” on October 25, 1983, Mullen conducted a 500ft combat parachute assault on the island of Grenada. He has over 250 static line airborne jumps.
Known to most as “Mad Max” Mullen for his bold, motivating, and aggressive leadership style the three time Ranger Instructor of the cycle, has trained, served with, and mentored some of the who’s who in Special Operations.
In 2013, MSG Mullen was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame as well as the Distinguished Member of the Ranger Training Brigade.

MSG Mullen is also well known and respected in the mil-sim community and has participated in some of the largest mil-sim events in the US. His experience bridges the gap from real-world military and law enforcement to the tactical mil-sim community. In addition, Mullen has appeared in movies, books, magazines, commercials, and national print ads, as well as public speaking engagements.
Executive Officer – Mark Anderson
As the owner of Neowav Solutions, Mark Anderson specializes in developing marketing strategies to help companies succeed. Mark is also a civilian qualified sniper, EMT, and a combatives instructor, and has developed courses promoting various training solutions for close quarter scenarios.
In his spare time Mark works as a movie consultant supplying military weapons, vehicles and consulting for movie the industry. Mark has worked on projects for the BBC, Valley of Elah, Farewell Darkness, and others.
Mark is currently teaching wilderness search & rescue, man tracking and survival courses.
Mark’s “Can Do” attitude keeps him always on the prowl for more training, knowledge, and resources. We welcome Neowav Solutions into the TacSim Family.
Senior Editor – Tom Leitner
Tom is a decorated Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps where he served with Military Police and Airframes for the CH-53E. Tom enjoys teaching wilderness survival courses and specializes in Urban Escape & Evasion and Tactical Applications in Urban Survival. He is proficient in Dynamic Combative Pistol, Tactical Carbine & Pistol, and Personal Protection. He is also active with the local CERT Team and volunteered during Hurricane Sandy.
Tom is also an avid mil-sim player, attending events all over the US with his team the Suicide Kings out of NJ. He has been involved with mil-sim for more than 5 years and is noted for his unorthodox approach to strategy and threat elimination.
Research & Development – Gary Williams
Gary is a 20 year Electrical Engineer and since 2004, he has been the Director of Business Development for ASAT (Assured Space Access Technologies Inc.), a consulting company specializing on MDA (Missile Defense Agency) projects and programs. Gary has been working in Space and Aerospace Weapons Systems since 1983. In short Gary is our registered TacSim. Gary has worked on many of today’s major weapons systems, along with satellites and launch vehicles. Yep, TacSim has a real Rocket Scientist.
As a self proclaimed small arms expert (a loose term). Gary is very knowledgeable and has firsthand knowledge of many US and Soviet small arms and is proficient in tactical and long range shooting, along with pistols, knives and shotguns. Most of his tactical knowledge comes from his military training, self taught or comes from volunteering for OPFOR missions for the State.
Relations Manager – Thomas Dixon
Thomas Dixon brings over 26 years of martial arts including KALI, Aikido and Chin na. Thomas specializes in weapon disarmament and joint manipulation. Thomas is also an avid hunter and survivalist. Working both in country and out, Thomas also has 3 years of experience working in executive protection and security contracting. He is also educated as a mechanical engineer.
Tactical Advisor – Paul Pawela
Paul is the Director of Law Enforcement Training for The American Police Hall of Fame and a nationally recognized trainer/ subject matter expert on military, police and security related issues. Paul retired from the 10th Special Forces Group with over 1000 static line and military free fall jumps and is a SOCOM hand to hand combat instructor. Paul is also a graduate of three different police academies and has served as a police officer in three different states. He currently works as an Adjunct Instructor for several nationally recognized training schools such as Lethal Force Institute, Defensive Training Inc, American Small Arms Academy, RedMan and ARMA.
Paul is a Graduate of the FBI Hostage Negotiation School, Smith&Wesson, H&K, SIG Arms Academy, NRA Police Fire Arms Instructor Schools as well as a graduate from ten different national shooting schools. With over 35 years of martial Arts experience, certified as a instructor in Jeet Kune Do and Kali, Paul is also recognized as one of the foremost knife Instructors in the country. Paul has served both in the military and law enforcement as a SRT Team Leader and is a certified Personal Protection Specialist and licensed Private Investigator.
Paul has written for Police, Concealed Carry, Combat Handguns, SWAT, GLOCK, Black Belt and many other self defense publications. Paul is the collaborator for Paladin Press The Special Operations Tactical Interdiction Sniper Manual and Tactical Response Solutions Extreme Russian Combat DVD staring Yelena Pawela.
Digital Marketing – Toni Anderson
Toni Anderson is an experienced Search Marketing and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategist who has been helping clients build positive online presences and reputations since 1998. With over 10 years of experience in digital marketing including: on and off site optimization, link building campaigns, keyword research, and PPC campaign construction, as well as project management, consulting and web design, and in house training of basic SEO skills to PR companies. She has a thorough understanding of marketing websites online through search engines, Social Media, and other web 2.0 sites. She has built her reputation as a knowledgeable and experienced SEO/SEM strategist and has consistently earned and maintained top rankings in all major search engines for clients for very competitive terms.
Toni has been responsible for the development of strategies to ensure the accessibility and usability of large scale sites, as well as optimization for user experience with the use of XHMTL, HTML, CSS, Photo Shop, Dreamweaver, and various SEO tools and programs which resulted in an increase conversion rates; in some cases more than 80%. This has earned her a reputation as a fast-paced industrious professional with a very strong work ethic who works tirelessly on behalf of her clients and their project needs.
She was educated in Arizona with a strong emphasis Psychology. Toni had the honor of serving as the President of Honors Society for Psychology (Psi Beta), as well as being the only student to sit on the Web Oversight Committee. She also holds a certificate as a Master Level SEO from the Search Engine Academy.
