The Filipino Fighting Arts has birthed many great ARNISADOR Grandmasters, legendary names that are Synonymous with the beautiful but deadly arts from the archipelago nation are Canete, Carin, Bacon, Cabales, Taboada, Giron as well as a host of others.
Many of the Grandmasters have faithfully spread the Filipino gospel through out the world, however many would agree one of the most influential Grandmasters to popularize the Filipino Arts through out the world would have to be the late great Grandmaster Remy Presas.
Grandmasters Presas would in turn produce his own world wide, world class and internationally recognized instructors: Dan Anderson, Hock Hochheim, Kelly Worden, World Champion Doug Pierre to name a few, all of these men have had a huge impact and influence in the martial arts world; unfortunately with Grandmaster Presas untimely passing, his students have resorted to internal bickering as to the heir of his system was going to officially be.
One of Grandmaster Presas most loyal under studies, who purposely stayed out of the spot light out of respect for Grandmaster Presas is in fact junior to other students, however while many will or will not publicly admit to it, one student stands above the rest on the subject matter when it comes to the knife. That title goes to Grandmaster Bram Frank.
Having recently returned from the Philippines Grandmaster Bram Frank was officially recognized as a Senior Master Instructor of Modern Arnis by the other Senior Master Instructors and Grandmaster Presas’s original five students. Grandmaster Bram Frank’s unique system CSSD/SC has been recognized as an official art of Arnis and branch of Modern Arnis.
Grandmaster Bram Frank has over 37 years of studying and teaching martial arts, his personal resume is simply staggering: a first generation personal student and disciple of Grandmaster Presas, a 3rd Dan 4th level advanced instructor in the Modern Arnis, awarded a 5th Degree in Arnis Marhalika which is a branch of Modern Arnis by Datu Shishir Inocalla and recently awarded his 6th Degree Arkido a blend of Arnis and Aikido by Grandmaster Neal Hummerstone. In January of 2005 Punong Guro Hummerstone awarded Bram his 7th Degree in Lakan Pino in International Arnis Escrima.
Bram Frank’s studies are not limited to Arnis Escrima, he has also studied Wing Chun, JKD and American Free Style Karate for over 30 years and holds Dan ranking in many of them as well. Bram is the rightful Director and Founder of the Spyderco ™ Martial Art Blade Craft program, currently residing as the Director of Blunt&Edge weapons training at the S2 Law Enforcement and Security Institute. The World Head of Sokeship Grandmaster Council has recently recognized Bram as the First Modern Grandmaster of their Council.
Traveling world wide Bram teaches seminars on the use of Blunt&Edge weapons to law enforcement, military as well as civilian martial artists; he is one of the most sought after touring seminar instructors in the world to date.
An innovative inventor Bram Frank holds patents on the World’s first kinetic opening full force continuum tool and knife made and marked by Spyderco ™ knives appropriately called the Gunting. Bram has also helped in the design of the United States Marine Corps newest bayonet fighting knife made by Ontario Knives™ and is currently designing a brand new knife for military and Anti Terrorist Units called Abanico again manufactured by Ontario Knives™.
